Channeling Reagan...A Maybe Solution
By:
Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor
This article is the authors opinion alone, and does not necessarily represent the views of blogspot.com or Google.
Let
me start by saying that I totally support both President Trump and
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in their decision to go to
war with Iran. It was the right thing to do on so many levels as
Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, had to be stopped,
most especially in regards to their wanting to become a nuclear
power. And while our and Israel's combined military forces were
successful last summer in negating Iran's nuclear ambitions...for now
anyway...what I have a problem with is the timing, the resulting
ramifications, and who is advising who.
Why
so...because, in my opinion, we and Israel together should have
finished the job last summer as Israel wanted to do, but Trump did
not as he still wanted to give the diplomatic route a try. And while
his intentions were honorable Trump forgot two cardinal rules with
the first being we do not negotiate with terrorists, and the second
being that any deals made with terrorists are done so with terrorist
fingers crossed behind their backs.
However,
should have is but a mute point now, as our “Operation
Epic Fury” and
Israel's “Operation
Roaring Lion”
did not commence until February 28th of this year. And while we have
been extremely successful militarily, as has Israel been in taking
out the Iranian regime's hierarchy, we are still in somewhat of a
negotiation stage with terrorists...that is if you count the back and
forth proposal rejections from both sides as being negotiations.
Remember,
Trump gave Iran extension after extension to “make
a deal”
to end the war on the basis of our strategic military superiority
along with our now having basically collapsed Iran's economy. How
so...simply by our imposing a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, thus
destroying Iran's oil revenue...it's prime source of income...as the
Strait is where Iranian purchased oil is shipped out from.
And
while many see this as a good thing, forgotten is the fact that when
military victory is secured with it should immediately come
strategic surrender. But obviously this is not the case with Iran for
the regime, while greatly weakened, still is fighting back to some
degree, and doing so mostly against its own Arab neighbors.
Also,
just as important, is the fact that history has shown, more times
than not, that while the victor was successful in collapsing an
enemy's economy it's the victor who usually ends up helping to
rebuild the economy of the very nation they helped to destroy, and
that sometimes it is at the expense of the victor country's own
taxpayer dollars.
However,
even when diplomacy remains the chosen path to help end a war, the
diplomats involved must have an understanding of who the enemy really
is. And herein lies a key issue regarding the war with Iran for I do not believe that President Trump and his advisors truly understand who the enemy
really is, and what must be done to secure not just victory but
lasting peace.
And
here I think it would be so wise for both President Trump, and all said
advisors, to look at how President Ronald Reagan not only combined what was a well thought out strategic
approach with military strength, but then he also fine-tuned the diplomatic
negotiations to the point where what was called the “Cold
War”...aka the “nuclear
arms race”...did see in victory the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union.
Simply,
striving to make deals with the enemy when military engagement has
itself not ended the war being fought only seems to work successfully
when the people...when the government...you are dealing with actually
does want a deal to be made...does want said war to end. And this is
something, I now believe, Iran does not want to see happen.
Why
so...because the theocratic dictatorship that has been Iran's reality
since the “Islamic
Revolution” of
1979, would rather see Iran totally being destroyed...down to every
last man, woman, and child...then their having to betray their core
ideology via deals being made even with fingers voluntarily being
crossed behind their backs...deals they and we know will not be
honored let alone be kept.
And
this is why we are still having trouble...yes trouble...bringing Iran
down to her increasingly bloodied knees. Remember, when one engages
in the “game
of war,”
when one is facing what will surely be military defeat, both sides
must understand that any deal being brokered is but political window
dressing and posturing at best.
And
when dealing with a conventional enemy, “to
the victors will go the spoils of war,”
yet the fact remains thatboth
sides must accept reality over what has become lifelong
indoctrinated ideologies. Both Reagan and then Soviet
leader Mikhail Gorbachev
knew this to be true in regards to the “Cold
War,” the regime in
Iran simply does not. And that probably is the reason why no lasting deals with Iran
will ever be made, or should be, made without Iran's “unconditional surrender.”
Remember, Gorbachev actually
wanted reform in the Soviet Union to take place...he wanted a change
in communism's oppressive ideologies...especially when faced head on
with Reagan’s strategy of not
only “peace
through strength,” but
with the economic pressures being imposed on the Soviet economy
courtesy of the “Cold
War” added
to its economic instabilities and inefficiencies. After all, building
and stockpiling nuclear weapons is a very expensive endeavor most
especially for a nation that is under communist rule.
The
“Cold War” could
well have ended in nuclear war but did not thanks to President Reagan
himself being not only an effective diplomat with fine tuned
oratory skills, but saw those skills...when coupled with his openness
to a one-on-one dialogue...resulting in intermediaries only having to
be used quite sparingly.
Simply, Reagan wisely chose
to speak for himself. And it was this stance that showed the world
both his and our country's strength, which in turn inspired
dissidents within the Soviet bloc to rise up against what Reagan
called the “Evil Empire.” And
it was this very action thathelped to both position
the United States as the leader of the “free world” while
also seeing the Soviet Union officially collapsing as the “Cold
War” basically came to a definitive end with President Reagan's now immortal words,
“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
I
truly believe that President Trump needs a “Reagan
moment”
to help end the war with Iran. Trump needs that “Reagan
moment”
to show the Iranian people...to show the protesters and the freedom
fighters, some of whom are still being executed...that he has not
forgotten them or their quest for freedom nor demoted them to second
place behind a war whose prime focus...at least for now...seems to be
who will be in control of Iran's oil supplies and distribution.
President
Trump needs a “Reagan
moment” to rethink how and exactly who should be handling any and all
diplomatic talks with those still hell bent on wiping both the U.S.
and Israel off the face of the map. And if negotiations are to
continue...negotiations which I still believe should never have taken
place...remember that Gorbachev wanted to reach a solution, those who are now left
running Iran do not...thus it should be Donald Trump himself...coupled
only with our great Secretary of State Marco Rubio (and possibly Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu)... who should sit
at the negotiation table not his old real estate buddy, his
son-on-law, or our vice president who sadly has no true diplomatic
experience at all.
And
might I add that the “extensions
“
must not only end, but no more extensions must be given. Threats do
become useless unless a set-in-stone timeline is given, but more
importantly is that said deadline must be followed up with promised
actions taken.
Simply,
if President Reagan could bring down the Soviet Union and end the
“Cold
War,”
President Trump can...likely with Israel's help...bring down Iran.
All that's needed is for tangible and sensible actions...including
military actions...to replace both the bravado and the threats
currently being unheeded. Case closed.

My Take on
“Operation Midnight Hammer”
By: Diane Sori /

“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this
wall!” These words were
spoken on June 12, 1987, when President Ronald Reagan challenged Soviet
leader Mikhail Gorbachev to dismantle the “Berlin Wall”...the
physical barrier that not only separated East and West Germany, but
symbolized the “Cold War” divide. And while tensions
between the U.S. and the Soviet Union did tone down somewhat, the
wall itself only fell when on November 9,1989, the
German people started dismantling it themselves, brick by
brick, ultimately resulting in reunification of Germany.
Over the past few months President
Trump tried to get Iran to not only “negotiate for peace”
regarding it's war with Israel, but to abandon its nuclear
program...a program not initiated for peaceful purposes but for the
development of nuclear bombs...bombs whose destinations would be
Israel and the U.S.
And when Iran decided they'd rather go
to war than dismantle anything, Trump dismantled said program for
them in a“divert and deflect” precisionoperation, where Iran's nuclear ambitions were “bunker
bombed” into oblivion. Now it's up to the Iranian people to
follow the German peoples lead of 35 years ago and take “regime
change” into their own hands.
Two
great presidents striving for peace, but “peace
through strength”
for “strength”
is what makes peace possible. Weakness was not an option for Reagan
nor was it for Trump especially with Iran being the worldwide “state
sponsor of terrorism,”
thus an “existential
threat to us all.”
Trump gave Iran every opportunity to stop fighting and
agree to nuclear disarmament, but it's hard to reason with a radical,
theocratic based regime who believe that their cause is just and that
God...in this case allah...is on their side.
So now we wait and see what comes next.
Will “regime change” happen...will a “populist/ resistance” movement be able to
overtake the remnants of what's left of Khomeini's faithful...will
Israel “take out” Khomeini...or will his death, thus
martyrdom, become a rallying cry for the ideologues even though the
Iranians wanting change far out number them? Or would retaliatory
actions taken by Iran lead to further joint Israeli/U.S. actions
being needed, as in take out Iran's oil fields thus crashing their
economy?
Only time will time, but until then
congratulations must go out to President Trump, our military, and to
Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF...partners in war, partners in peace.
Case closed.

...And while both men traveled similar yet

courtesy of his “Eleventh Commandment,” as in “do not to

Commonalities Shared, Differences Be
Damned
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor /
Right Side Patriots / Right Side Patriots Radio
The
Op-ed posted here is this authors opinion alone, and does not
necessarily represent the views of blogspot.comor Google.
“For all their differences in
temperament and style there’s a deeper continuity in the beliefs of
our 40th and 45th presidents.”
- Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark) in a March 8.
2022 speech at the Reagan Presidential Library
The great Ronald Reagan, in my opinion,
was the best president of the 20th century...Donald J. Trump might
well be the best in this the 21st century, obviously only time itself
will tell. And while both men are molded in the “populist”
based tradition of “law and order,” the two men are quite
different in temperament, personality, and governing style. However, both Reagan (our 40th and 41st
president) and Trump {our 45th and now our 47th president) not only championed states rights, but both men had a deep
distrust of “big government” bureaucracy.
And with both
men embracing the concept of MAGA...as in “Make America Great
Again,” know that the
MAGA acronym was first coined by Ronald Reagan as “Let's Make America
Great Again” (LMAGA) and used it in his 1980 successful campaign for the
presidency, while Trump dropped the word“Let's” first in 2016, then in 2020, and now in 2024.
Two great men, two great presidents,
one an orator bar none, the other speaking more in line with today's
common vernacular. In fact, to me, Reagan's “Challenger”
speech embodies presidential emotion and pride in American
exceptionalism like no other, while with but six little words spoken,
“Mr. Gorbechev tear down this wall,” he geo-politically
realigned both Europe and the world. And while Donald Trump is not
nearly as polished a speaker as Reagan...few ever will be nor does
Trump have to be...Trump had his shining moment with but three little
words spoken...spoken as blood dripped down his face...“fight,
fight, fight”...three little words more powerful than any
campaign speech to date.
To me, Donald J. Trump is the common
man's Ronald Reagan orator wise if you will, but Trump did shine
bright in a CPAC speech given seven years ago when he first spoke
about the “forgotten men and women of America”...the very
men and women who are the “backbone” of our great
nation...as in America's working/middle class citizens...the very men
and women that the Biden/Harris administration lost complete touch
with, thus rightfully costing the Democrats the 2024 election.
And this identifying with America's
seemingly forgotten middle class...even though Ronald Reagan was then and
Donald Trump is now anything but middle class...both men let their core
conservative values and belief in American exceptionalism take center
stage in an attempt to unite together the different factions within
the Republican party.
And while both men traveled similar yet
different paths to reach the same destination...remember both Reagan
and Trump were originally Democrats...Reagan's path was then forged
courtesy of his “Eleventh Commandment,” as in “do not to
speak ill of your fellow Republicans”...simply, do try to put your “differences”
aside in the name of “party unity”... while Trump, even with all his
silly name calling of those Republicans who dared to oppose him, was
still able to accomplish the same final goal as Reagan by his circling
the Republican party faithful around him courtesy of the economic and
foreign policy successes of his first term in office.
So while Trump did fail to garner a
consecutive term in office...and we all know why... Reagan easily did.
But as events continue to unfold, I've come to believe that the break
in continuity has now worked in Trump's and “We the People's”
favor. How so...first by allowing Trump the time needed to not only
expose both the hypocrisy and the tactics used by the Democrat
party's hierarchy to hold onto the reigns of power...and do so by any
and every means possible legal or not...but it also helped to set the
stage for showing how Ronald Reagan was the right man for
his time, and that Donald J. Trump is truly the right man for today's
time.
And the similarities continue on with
both men leading a nationwide turn to the right. For Reagan it
was courtesy of the abject failed economic and foreign policy agenda
of his predecessor, Jimmy Carter, which easily allowed him to turn
Carter's negatives into his landslide election win. Remember, not
only did the Carter years see the energy crisis of
1979...which was due to massive Middle East oil price
hikes...directly lead to an increase in cost-of-living expenses, which
culminated in the recession of 1980 all thanks to what was then
double-digit inflation. Simply, Jimmy Carter's economic
polices were a complete failure, and it took “Reganomics”...replete
with major tax cuts...tohelp turn our economy around. And not to
be forgotten is Carter's owning the foreign policy disaster
that was the “Iranian Hostage Crisis”*...a
crisis which Reagan used as rightful political ammunition to
help him win his first presidential election.
Now here the similarities between the
two men continues on for while the mid-to-late 1970”s were mired
down in Carter's economic and foreign policy disasters...only to
turned around courtesy of “Reaganomics”...we today are the
victims of “Bidenonomics”...an economic plan that was doomed to
fail for it did not understand nor take into account the wants and
needs of average middle class American citizens. But thankfully,
Donald Trump was the recipient of a “red tsunami” win
based primarily upon the economic successes of his first
administration. Energy independence, low inflation, sanity at the gas
pump and in our supermarkets, proved we were indeed better off four
years ago than we are today.
Simply, few were buying into what Jimmy
Carter...the man politically deemed a “weak and ineffectual
president”...was trying to sell then, leaving Reagan to be
elected in a “red tsunami” of his own; just like now when
few bought into what Kamala Harris was trying to sell, as proven by
Trump's overwhelming win. A decidedly countrywide shift to the right
for both Reagan and Trump primarily, but not completely due to their
successful economic policies with their foreign policy stances being
icing on the proverbial cake.
Reagan was aided in his win by the
ongoing “Iranian Hostage Crisis,” a
crisis Carter was ill-prepared for; and in his second term
Reagan's well tempered oratory skills and his mastery of diplomacy
led to not just the tearing down of the Berlin Wall but the collapse
of the Soviet Union as well. And in his contest against Harris, Trump
was aided in his win by Biden's disastrous pullout of Afghanistan;
Biden's seemingly endless blank check to help Ukraine fight its war
against Putin's Russia, and the Middle East War between Israel and
Iran...remember, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi's are just proxy
armies of Iran.
Simply, our country was weary of war
during Reagan's time...we were just a few years out of the end of the
nightmare that was the Vietnam War...coupled with the fact that the
hostage crisis had gone on for way too long. And now during this,
what will be Trump's second term in office, we find ourselves facing
maniacs...especially the mullahs in Iran...who are hell bent on not
just starting World War III, but reshaping and realigning the world's
geopolitical map to where individual nations take second place to
sought after globalization under the auspices of a “one world”
dictatorial style government.
And yet even with this above stated
fact, what these two men truly have in common is that both Ronald Reagan and
Donald Trump fully embraced and more importantly did understand the concepts of not only “peace though
strength,” but also the great need
to prioritize both our military and to put America, our American
interests, and America's safety first. That cannot be said of Jimmy
Carter then nor of Joe Biden now, and most especially it cannot be said of Kamala Harris,
as easily witnessed by her failed campaign agenda and its overtly weak and extremely lopsided political alliances.
And here it's also important to
remember that both Reagan and Trump were and are of the belief that
their predecessors were politically naive and that naivety in and of
itself is dangerous by design...dangerous to not only hoped for
diplomacy but dangerous to both the applications of the law and to
our Constitution itself. Simply, what Reagan worked for then and what
Trump is working for now is not just to make America herself great
again via a rebirth and pride in American exceptionalism, but to
solidify America’s standing on the world stage as both the number
one superpower as well as being the true leader and broker of world peace.
So what then are the main
differences between these two great men...these two great presidents? While their overall political and policy differences are not many, their
differences personality wise are clearly more well defined and
telling. Here are the four main differences that, to me, do stand out, but at the same do not diminish either man's greatness.
First, Ronald Reagan, as president,
was way more tolerant of those within the Republican party who disagreed
with him, and was more willing to listen to and at least entertain
other points of view even from the Democrat side of the aisle; while
to disagree with Trump on almost any topic sometimes left one open
to a barrage of silly name-calling with a political dismissal of
sorts.
Second, while Donald Trump is
still viewed by many Democrats and even by some in the Republican
party as being more “extreme” in his ideologies and
communication style, Reagan is viewed by many as being a man more
“establishment” in his overall demeanor, political
presentation, and style wise.
Third, while Trump demands
unwavering personal loyalty to Trump the man, Reagan was more
insistent on loyalty to the Republican party then he ever was to
himself.
And lastly, political vendetta's
needing to be settled was never part of who Reagan was either as
president or personally, but it is a part of Trump the man. But in
Trump's defense I must say it's rightly so for no president has ever
had to face a political witch hunt on the scale that this man has.
And so
I end with these two quotes from each man's first inauguration
speeches...quotes that while not as well known as others do clearly
show how both Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald J. Trump truly
define what constitutes a deep love for this country, a pride in our
people; and American exceptionalism at it's very best.
First
President Reagan... “If we look to the answer as to why
for so many years we achieved so much, prospered as no other people
on earth, it was because here in this land we unleashed the energy
and individual genius of man to a greater extent than has ever been
done before. Freedom and the dignity of the individual have been
more available and assured here than in any other place on earth. -
1981
Now President Trump...“It is time
to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget: that
whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red
blood of patriots, we all enjoy the same glorious freedoms, and we
all salute the same great American Flag.” - 2017
And here may I say,
“God Bless America...today, tomorrow, and always.” Case
closed.
* Briefly, the “Iranian Hostage Crisis”began in October 1979, when a group of armed, militant, Iranian college students...who supported the“Iranian Revolution”...attacked the U.S. Embassy in Tehran after the overthrown of the Shah Mohamad Reza Pahlavi. The U.S. allied Shah had been granted asylum to came
to the U.S. for cancer treatment during this time but the revolution's leaders wanted him back to stand trial. In total, 53 U.S. diplomats and citizens were held hostage from November 4, 1979 to their release on January 20, 1981...the day when Ronald Reagan was sworn in as our 40th president.
