Op-ed:
Removing McCarthy...For Better Or Worse
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Politics / Right Side Patriots Radio
The Op-ed posted here is my opinion alone, and does not necessarily represent the views of blogspot.com

Last Tuesday night, no matter which presidential candidate one supports, we witnessed one of the saddest commentaries regarding today's Republican party as eight “supposedly” conservative Republican* congresspersons voted with the Democrats to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position via a political maneuver known as a “motion to vacate the chair.” And in their doing so these eight individuals sadly sent a loud and clear message that the infighting within the party will continue on while not caring that with their votes the Democrats have again become the defacto ruling party of the House of Representatives.

And while these eight Republicans...whose plan was conceived and implemented by Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz...had a specific and in a Gaetz's case a personal reason for ousting McCarthy as Speaker...my presidential nominee of choice, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, surprisingly to some, also supported McCarthy's removal but not for the same reasons as did Gaetz and crew. And yes, I mention DeSantis here because McCarthy's removal does indeed have an effect on the presidential nomination race.

Saying in an interview with Scripps News following the vote, DeSantis, in his opinion, did not see McCarthy losing the speakership just because of his willingness to work with the Democrats per se, but because he was “too closely tied to Donald Trump.” And while his words do, on the surface, seem a bit odd especially with Gaetz and crew being die-hard Trump supporters, DeSantis' reasons do have validity. How so...as per DeSantis, McCarthy was “someone that Donald Trump backed and put in that position,” but before then DeSantis was a member of Congress (2013-2018) representing Florida's 6th Congressional District, and was also a founding member of the “House Freedom Caucus.” And it was here where the two men clashed on numerous occasions especially over McCarthy's failure to “extract concessions” in exchange for the caucus members support if he were ever to vie for the speakership. And that alone, in my opinion, is exactly what led to McCarthy's downfall.

How so? Gaetz's drive to remove McCarthy was indeed driven by hate coupled with an overt need for personal “revenge”...“revenge” not only based upon his belief that Kevin McCarthy does remain on the opposite side of the conservative spectrum...including but not limited to McCarthy’s backing of the Democrats “stopgap spending bill”...but as “payback” for McCarthy's failure to intervene on Gaetz's behalf during a House inquiry looking into allegations of “sexual misconduct” and Gaetz's misuse of political funds.

And while “personal revenge” and “payback” should have no place in political decision making...it being childish “tit-for-tat” nonsense at best...the fact is that on too many occasions said nonsense does remain. But sometimes “revenge” can be truly altruistic in nature, and such is the case with Gov. Ron DeSantis' agreeing, in principal, with Matt Gaetz that McCarthy was not ousted based upon one specific issue per se, but because key promises he made over the years were broken. I liken this to the promises made by Donald Trump when he was campaigning...promises made that never came to fruition... one example being Trump's not draining the “swamp” which actually grew stronger when he was in office.

But the key difference between DeSantis' reasoning and that of Matt Gates is that DeSantis unlike Gaetz is not...I repeat not...opposed to bipartisanship. And DeSantis has proven that bipartisanship can indeed work via numerous bipartisan votes in both Florida's House and Senate that together not only got the job done...for example Florida's having a budget surplus and also having paid off a good portion of its debt...unlike Gaetz's idol Donald Trump who when president worked with McCarthy to add $7 trillion in debt in just a mere four years time.

And while I personally can accept Gov. DeSantis' reasoning even while not agreeing with him one hundred percent, I did cut McCarthy a wee bit of slack in his role as Speaker of the House because I am a constitutional Republican with conservative leanings and not a far right Matt Gaetz style “supposed” conservative per se. However, I cannot abide the witch hunt style tactics Matt Gaetz used to unseat Kevin McCarthy, including his calling McCarthy “a creature of the swamp”...the devil incarnate if you will.

Why so...simply because against Matt Gaetz's wishes McCarthy dared to work out a compromise with the Democrats to keep the government up and running for 45 more days. To Gaetz and crew “compromise” is a dirty word as they ignore the fact that the most successful deals made are when give and take happens from both sides of the political aisle, and done so in the best interest of “We the American People.” And in this particular case Gaetz and his people forgot that the spending bill in question was criticized by both some House Republican and Democrat lawmakers, and that the 45-day extension might well have resulted in an acceptable bipartisan decision.

Also forgotten...and this is important...is that the Democrats not only tend to put party loyalty first before the individual, but that they rally together in unison when needed, which is a key factor in many of their successful election wins. And sadly, too many of we Republicans still tend to either herald or demonize individuals instead of not only uniting behind the party and its platform, but in choosing who the best candidates are during a specifically given time frame and race.

Now here I must state that I truly do believe workable bipartisanship of the kind that Reagan saw during his administration is what both parties should always be striving for. A pipe dream perhaps for I know that will not happen as long as nonsense like we witnessed last week reeks not of substance but solely of “revenge politics.” And while Republicans do need to grow a backbone and stand up to the Democrats on major issues of contention, ousting the Speaker of the House...especially at this most critical of times as we head into the 2024 election...was not the right thing to do. Why so...because the theatrics of last week actually played into what the Democrats wanted, as in the continuing fracturing of the already fractured Republican party thanks to, whether some like it or not, Donald Trump's entry into the 2024 presidential race. And again why so...because Trump is who the Democrats want as the nominee because the mechanisms for his loss have had four years to be put into place, something Gaetz and crew failed to take into account.

And Matt Gaetz...a man who like Trump craves and relishes in being the center of media attention...is not as smart as he purports himself to be for someone with true political savvy, whether knowingly or not, would not fall into the Democrats trap set. And the irony in all this is that in Gaetz's wanting McCarthy out because he strove for bipartisanship, Gaetz and this newest deemed “Gang of Eight” actually did the very same thing that they accused McCarthy of doing, because they not only sided but voted with the Democrats against one of their own.

How so...with all the Democrats voting to oust McCarthy they still were eight votes short of the majority number needed, but when Matt Gaetz and crew added their eight votes for removal, the 208 “yea” Democrat votes became 216 votes vs. the Republican 200 “nay” votes, and thus McCarthy's fate was now sealed. In other words, Kevin McCarthy was officially ousted as Speaker of the House not by his fellow House Republicans, but by Matt Gaetz and his people siding with the Democrats who actually sided with Gaetz against McCarthy...talk about bipartisanship of the most convoluted, devious, and ironic kind.

And don't think Matt Gaetz didn't know this would be the final tally for he's more cunning than most suspect for only a cunningly devious mind could conjure up a plan to oust a man from office whose good deeds have far outweighed the bad.

Remember, there's a difference between standing strong for ones convictions and abjectly refusing to work with the other side of the aisle...Gov. DeSantis has proven just how successfully bipartisanship can work. And while Matt Gaetz did have some rightful bones to pick regarding the Democrats ongoing excessive federal spending...he simply handled it the wrong way.

And as far as Gaetz is personally concerned, besides his being driven by revenge against McCarty for his willing to work with the Democrats on some key issues, the fact remains that Matt Gaetz in actuality is indeed a cowardly sort who so loves to talk the talk but fails to take needed actions. Case in point...while Gaetz did spearhead the removing of McCarthy he still does not have the fortitude nor the courage to even try to take McCarthy's place and correct what he believes is wrong...wrongs that can be easily remedied if all “appropriation bills”...if all government spending bills proposed...were “line itemized” instead of being presented as an all or nothing package

.

So now as we wait to see who the next Speaker of the House will be...either Reps. Jim Jordan or Steven Scalise are more than acceptable to me...the issue that must remain in the forefront of this particular political discourse is that somehow, someway, not only must all Republican infighting come to an end, but acceptable bipartisanship must be something we all strive for as no one side should dictate the entirety of the political discourse. And that must come replete with compromise not capitulation on the part of both parties involved, because if both sides of the aisle...if both Republicans and Democrats...do not start working together for the good of both “We the People” and our country, than we can simply kiss our “republic” goodbye and herald in the age of Obama's “transformation of America” come to fruition. Case closed.                                                                                ____________________________________________________

Op-ed:
Nothing to See Here Folks
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots on www.cprworldwidemedia.net

“Nothing to see here.”
- The Obama administration describing as “routine” the 'secret, separate, side agreement' the IAEA made with Iran

It has now come to light that as part of the 'very bad deal' Obama agreed to with Iran...you know the country that routinely calls for “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”...well now thanks to a recent AP report we know that Iran did indeed make a 'secret, separate, side agreement' with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)...an agency who comes under the auspices of the U.N....that allows them to conduct their own inspections with their own experts and their own equipment on their own infamous Parchin military site...a site that has been used in the past (if it's NOT still being used) in their quest to develop nuclear weapons.

And again thanks to this AP report we know that according to them the U.S. and Obama ...as well as the other P5+1 members...were NOT party to this agreement per se but were instead briefed on it by the IAEA and endorsed it as part of the larger package. But, and this is critical, they tried to keep that fact hidden just to get this 'very bad deal' signed, sealed, and delivered.

And House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy stated that, “This side agreement shows that true verification is a sham, and it begs the question of what else the administration is keeping from Congress,” as well as his recently saying that the AP report leaves out one key point and that is that Congress did NOT find out about this 'secret, separate, side agreement' until reading it in the AP itself...as in they were NOT briefed by the IAEA nor were they briefed by the Obama administration...period.

And what of Parchin itself...well...Parchin is a must be inspected site because it's a known fact that Iran has previously experimented with high-explosive detonators for nuclear arms there, and it's a site that based upon satellite images shows possible attempts to 'sanitize' the site before any inspectors could have access to it. And this most critical of all sites that the IAEA was supposed to inspect now has the IAEA ceded their investigative authority over to Iran...and Obama is oh so comfortable with this arrangement.

Of course he is.

So now in place we have a 'secret, separate, side agreement' being made that proves what both American and Israeli opponents of this 'very bad deal' have said since day one and that is that the main premise of this deal...a premise put forth by none other than Barack HUSSEIN Obama himself...was that we are supposed to trust the NOT to be trusted Iranians to honor the deal, but how can you trust any nation that will NOT allow independent inspections, especially when independent inspections were touted as being what sealed the deal for the P5+1. Simply you cannot...for the deal they agreed to is NOT the deal they are now getting...the fact is it's far worse than anyone ever expected.

Barred from visiting the Parchin site...the ramifications of this are indeed mind-boggling for it goes deeper than the IAEA...who normally carries out such inspections...agreeing to be barred from actually setting foot on this complex...for the IAEA has now acquiesced to Iran's stipulation that they will NOT be given any photo or video information from Parchin or from any other sites that Iran deems off-limits because they have 'military significance' or so they claim. And as the 'devil is in the details' how's this...because they are barred from Parchin, IAEA experts who themselves normally would be the ones taking environmental samples for evidence of any weapons development will now only be afforded whatever samples the Iranian technicians give them. And the sampling itself is being held to only seven samples inside the actual facility with a few additional samples outside of the Parchin site in areas to be determined by the Iranians.

Nice huh...talk about selling out to the enemy.

The Iranians have pulled the proverbial wool over the P5+1's eyes, but then again the P5+1 were NEVER really dedicated to stopping Iran from becoming a nuclear power to begin with. And Obama is sitting back with that nasty smirk of his telling Iran job well done as he gives the U.N...the U(seless) N(ations)...a thumbs up for helping him pull this all off for know that Obama knew from day one about this 'secret, separate, side agreement' and do NOT for a moment think he did NOT as it was probably laid out back in 2011 at the secret meeting with the Iranians in Bahrain that he sent Valerie Jarrett to.

So now we are left with a deal that appears on the surface has Iran being put on the 'honor system'...so to speak...as to their choosing to abide or NOT abide by what this now exposed NO longer 'secret, separate, side agreement' stipulates. And make NO mistake this side agreement has overridden any and all stipulations agreed to in the original 'very bad deal'...which is totally and completely foolhardy for remember that buried deep within the actual deal itself are annexes and appendixes that were NEVER supposed to go public...words for example that give Iran the ability to contest so-called "snap" inspections, setting off an appeals process of up to 24 days...meaning Iran gets a 24-day notice before the U.N. is allowed any sort of inspections at any of their facilities, military or otherwise. And that translates into giving Iran more than enough time to hide or move anything they do NOT want prying eyes to see thereby turning any chance of enforcing any provisions of this 'very bad NOTHING but a farce deal' into a pipe dream.

And remember whose side the U.N. is actually on as they allowed the IAEA to run solo on this, and remember too that it was the U.N. who approved key parts of this 'very bad deal' mere days after the deal was reached and before Congress had a chance to vote on it let alone truly digest all that was in it. And now even with this 'secret, separate, side agreement' being exposed...still some in Congress...on Obama's urging of course...are pushing for Congressional approval...pushing for a deal that in NO uncertain terms 'aids and abets' the enemy.

And what of Israel who truly has the most to lose...well Israel is rightfully furious...as Obama tries to push forward a deal that has the enemy inspecting their own nuclear sites...sites where future bombs having 'Destination Israel' marked on them will eventually be readied for launch. But thankfully some in Congress are starting to see the true intent and ramifications of NOT only this 'very bad deal' itself...with Iran now being afforded the ability to search for evidence of activities that it had previously denied ever existed...but of how they in Congress have been played... manipulated...by a president and his administration who actually want NOT only Israel destroyed but who want our beloved America brought to her knees as well.

Crossing party lines to do the right thing...for some Democrats in Congress are smart enough to know that if Iran has nothing to hide what possible reason do they have for all these hidden stipulations especially agreements excluding international inspectors from overseeing the inspection process...is Democratic New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez, former ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee who has publicly defied Obama by saying that, "I have looked into my own soul and my devotion to principle may once again lead me to an unpopular course, but if Iran is to acquire a nuclear bomb, it will not have my name on it," Menendez has vowed to NOT only disapprove the 'very bad deal' itself when it comes to vote but will also vote to override any expected Obama veto that will surely come. And Democratic New York Senator Chuck Schumer, the number 3 Senate Democrat, has joined him in pledging to vote against the deal and to vote to override Obama's veto as well.

And joining Menendez and Schumer on the House side are 12 Democrats...12 out of 188 Democrats in the 435-member House...Representatives Steve Israel (NY), Nita Lowey (NY), Grace Meng (NY), Kathleen Rice (NY), Eliot Engel (NY), Albio Sires (NJ), Ted Deutch (FL), Alcee Hastings (FL), David Scott (GA), Juan Vargas (CA), and Brad Sherman (CA) who stated for the record that, “My efforts have one purpose – make it clear that future presidents and Congresses are not bound by this agreement...not legally, not morally, not diplomatically.”

But while more members of Congress are considering voting 'nay' on this 'very bad deal'... especially in light of these newest deliberately deceptive developments...the bottom line remains that it's still all about numbers. And the reality of those numbers is that Republicans must pick up 44 Democrats in the House and 13 in the Senate to reach the needed two-thirds majority to override Obama's sure to come veto, and that is and only is if all Republicans stand strong and show up...as in put campaigning aside for a day or so...to vote 'nay' on this 'very bad deal.' And herein lies the sticking point for while Republicans do expect to garner enough votes to pass the first round...the 'resolution of disapproval'...they still fall short...11 short...of the magic number 13 needed in the Senate to override Obama's veto.

And now as if to add fuel to the fire...here comes House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi who says she is confident Obama's deal with Iran will NOT be stopped by Congress...that House Democrats will have the needed votes to pass and then block any veto override. And know that until that vote comes next month, Obama himself, as well as his minions, will be working overtime to sway to his side any Democrats even remotely considering voting 'nay' on this 'very bad deal.'

I just wonder how many times Obama will pull out the 'race card' to get the fence straddlers over to his side...just saying.
