From Vietnam to Iran Questionable Decisions Made

...And whether some like it or not...no matter which side of the political aisle one is currently on...previous wars both won and lost have shown that when wars are fought minus ground troops peace is usually not achieved. Why so... because airstrikes, missiles, and drones can do only so much. Yes, they do blow things up thus making certain needed things unavailable to the enemy., but bombings alone cannot secure areas, control the population, or secure a war's much needed objective of the enemy completely and
unconditionally surrendering.

Simply, for Iran not to have yet officially surrendered (which was Trump's original objective that he foolishly strayed away from)...whether it be unconditionally or otherwise... in spite of our overwhelming military victories Iran has incurred...still means that we...that the United States of America...has yet to win this war. Why so...because Iran and its regime has outlasted and outmaneuvered President Trump courtesy of its simple ability to endure, and shift the war outward to encompass its fellow Arab neighbors while also now starting to move outward from there...outward even into the Red Sea at last report...

From Vietnam to Iran Questionable Decisions Made
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor
This opinion piece is my opinion alone, and does not necessarily represent the views of blogspot.or google.com

Last week I wrote about the “maybe or maybe notof today's war with Iran possibly becoming a war not unlike Vietnam...a war we lost back in 1975 when we pulled out of the country minus what should have been an easy and overwhelming military victory.

And it was a defeat that still has a haunting degree of political ramifications even today, for the fact remains that misplaced diplomacy was chosen as the path to try and end the Vietnam War, just as still failed diplomacy was chosen to end the war in Afghanistan, and now is still what President Trump hopes will succeed in regards to Iran.

And while diplomacy is altruistic by its very nature, the fact remains that when ones enemy continues to fight back...to engage militarily while talks...whether they be in the open or via back channels...are ongoing, the enemy wins in the “court of public opinion” for they look strong while we look weak. This was the case in both Vietnam and Afghanistan, and as long as Iran has the ability to keep lobbing missiles and drones at their fellow Gulf neighbors and of course at our U.S. military bases and interests, it's Iran that looks strong no matter our newly intensified bombings. Why so...simply because President Trump has not yet stricken the words “diplomatic solution” from his vocabulary.

Remember, in Afghanistan...President George W. Bush's initiated war...we saw our military needing but mere weeks to oust the Taliban from the country, yet twenty years later on August 30, 2021 thanks to then President Joe Biden...whose entire presidency was really a joke at best...we left Afghanistan in humiliating defeat, Why so, because Biden chose to ignore what was then obvious Afghan government corruption along with the fact that the Taliban were still being able to cause massive havoc from what was their safe haven in Pakistan...the very same Pakistan now involved in the ever dubious still somewhat ongoing Iran negotiations. Seems President Trump and his advisors did not learn a lesson in what was then Afghanistan/Pakistan betrayal.

And when all Biden's fence-sitting diplomatic efforts failed to win even a modicum of U.S. political legitimacy amongst the Afghan people...people who saw Biden's withdrawal efforts as being both a betrayal and an outright abandonment of the Afghan people...the Taliban quickly moved back into Afghanistan to again rule the country sending the people back to the sixth century while they got to keep all our foolishly left behind advanced weaponry. And again, this was no matter the limited diplomatic efforts the Biden administration put forward to at least try to recoup some of that equipment.

Diplomacy” and deals”...two words that infuriate me when it comes to Iran because for years numerous presidents and their administrations...including that of Trump during his first term in office...told us that Iran was the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, and that they had to be dealt with before another 9/11 type scenario were to occur. Yes, numerous administrations talked the talk” yet no real actions were taken not even after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu...the man whose very country was deemed to be Iran's arch enemy number one...we were number two...addressed a joint session of Congress during Trump's first term in office, and came replete with charts and graphs which laid out the ugly truth for the whole world to see.

But did we listen then...no...are we listening now...yes...while at the same time a certain individual within the current administration publicly stabbed the messenger and his country in the back, and continues to do so albeit trying to choose his words a bit more politically correct and cautiously.

Yet the bottom line is that it took until last summer when Iran was literally on the verge of finalizing construction of a nuclear weapon that we, together with Israel, sprung into action and turned Iran's nuclear facilities into rubble while at the same time Israel sent numerous key members of the regime on a one way trip to allah. And it seems that it was at this high point when things started to go south” with talks of negotiations and deals” entering into and dominating the discourse.

Simply, negotiations and deals” with those infamously famous for making deals” with fingers crossed behind their backs is something Trump, and his people, have yet to learn go nowhere, because Trump had again put his reinstated bombings on temporary hold, as he once again wanted to negotiate a deal...this time to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

And so while President Trump's intentions and ensuing military actions taken at the beginning of this war, and again now in the war's later stages, were done for all the right reasons and should not as such come into question, what should come into question...and it's long overdo...is why both our president and his advisors do not understand...or simply chose not to accept as fact... that negotiations and deals” made with the enemy actually do fail more times than they are successful. And why...because not only do these scenarios give both sides time to regroup, rearm, and re-strategize, but what physical actions said deals temporarily stop Iran from doing see their proxies picking up the slack and doing.

Gives new and quite dubious meaning to these six ever truthful words, with fingers crossed behind their backs,” I'd say.

And then there's this...the difficult balance between compromise and demands, which both sides tend to look at differently...as in non-negotiable demands (Iran demands to be a nuclear power), vs. what are deemed to be transitional time-framed demands (if Iran is still behaving in a decade or so we'll revisit the issue of Iran enriching uranium for peaceful uses alone... meaning if Iran meets our carved in stone demanded time frame, then maybe in time we'll give them one of their lesser demands...you give us this, maybe we'll give you that.

Not a good way to win a war I'd say for all negotiating for deals does...and remember they usually do fail...is prolong the inevitable defeat for one side or the other whether the inevitable is thegood guy” or not. And here let's remember that when he ran for office...all three times that is...that Trump actually pledged to keep our beloved America out of what seemed to be forever wars”...wars like Vietnam and Afghanistan...and yet now here we are in what could turn Iran into just such a war if we don't figure out a way to end this war with us being the victor, with that sadly meaning having to send in ground troops if that be the case.

And whether some like it or not...no matter which side of the political aisle one is currently on...previous wars both won and lost have shown that when wars are fought minus ground troops peace is usually not achieved. Why so... because airstrikes, missiles, and drones can do only so much. Yes, they do blow things up thus making certain needed things unavailable to the enemy., but bombings alone cannot secure areas, control the population, or secure a war's much needed objective of the enemy completely and unconditionally surrendering.

Simply, for Iran not to have yet officially surrendered (which was Trump's original objective that he foolishly strayed away from)...whether it be unconditionally or otherwise... in spite of our overwhelming military victories Iran has incurred...still means that we...that the United States of America...has yet to win this war. Why so...because Iran and its regime has outlasted and outmaneuvered President Trump courtesy of its simple ability to endure, and shift the war outward to encompass its fellow Arab neighbors while also now starting to move outward from there...outward even into the Red Sea at last report.

In fact, when I started writing this article...the bombings were back on again do to Iran's not only having launched a targeted missile attack against U.S. troops stationed in Jordan which resulted in three American deaths... to which President Trump then rightfully vowed to,“beat the f-king s-t out of” Iran...but the bombing attacks continued on as we and Saudi Arabia jointly struck Iran's proxy-aligned terrorists in Iraq...terrorists who had launched 30 drone attacks on U.S. aligned forces and assets in the region included Saudi's oil fields.

But now those “payback” attacks have ended...at least as I finish writing this...for we did what needed to be done while Trump remains caught up in a cycle that hoped for negotiations and deals can still end this war, which in my opinion it cannot. Why so...because right from the beginning President Trump and his people underestimated Iran's military arsenal as witnessed by the fact that they're still fighting back which has helped in the destabilizing of global energy markets, while at the same time putting some long held U.S. alliances in jeopardy.

In fact, in Iran's successfully playing the let's make a deal and then break it game” it shows that they still possess strategic liabilities” for the U.S., Israel. and all those aligned with us. Why so...because to date no winner has been declared in this war...no one on either side has surrendered to the other, for the fact remains that the true end to any war fought is solely attained when one side “surrenders” in defeat to the other.

And while I really don't see that happening anytime soon...unless Israel is allowed to do our job for us...I ask with all due respect that President Trump rejoin together with Israel...but leave JD Vance at home...and together finish the job that you started together. We as a nation do not need or want another Vietnam let alone another Afghanistan, most especially with not just the midterms fast approaching, but the 2028 presidential election only two years away. President Trump, it really does all rest on your shoulders...do what needs to be done, and please do it soon for there really might not be a later. Case closed.

...And here I think it would be so wise for both President Trump, and all said advisors, to look at how President Ronald Reagan not only combined what was a well thought out strategic approach with military strength, but then he also fine-tuned the diplomatic negotiations to the point where what was called the “Cold War”...aka the “nuclear arms race”...did see in victory the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union.

Channeling Reagan...A Maybe Solution
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor

Let me start by saying that I totally support both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in their decision to go to war with Iran. It was the right thing to do on so many levels as Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, had to be stopped, most especially in regards to their wanting to become a nuclear power. And while our and Israel's combined military forces were successful last summer in negating Iran's nuclear ambitions...for now anyway...what I have a problem with is the timing, the resulting ramifications, and who is advising who.

Why so...because, in my opinion, we and Israel together should have finished the job last summer as Israel wanted to do, but Trump did not as he still wanted to give the diplomatic route a try. And while his intentions were honorable Trump forgot two cardinal rules with the first being we do not negotiate with terrorists, and the second being that any deals made with terrorists are done so with terrorist fingers crossed behind their backs.

However, should have is but a mute point now, as our “Operation Epic Fury” and Israel's “Operation Roaring Lion” did not commence until February 28th of this year. And while we have been extremely successful militarily, as has Israel been in taking out the Iranian regime's hierarchy, we are still in somewhat of a negotiation stage with terrorists...that is if you count the back and forth proposal rejections from both sides as being negotiations.

Remember, Trump gave Iran extension after extension to “make a deal” to end the war on the basis of our strategic military superiority along with our now having basically collapsed Iran's economy. How so...simply by our imposing a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, thus destroying Iran's oil revenue...it's prime source of income...as the Strait is where Iranian purchased oil is shipped out from.

And while many see this as a good thing, forgotten is the fact that when military victory is secured with it should immediately come strategic surrender. But obviously this is not the case with Iran for the regime, while greatly weakened, still is fighting back to some degree, and doing so mostly against its own Arab neighbors.

Also, just as important, is the fact that history has shown, more times than not, that while the victor was successful in collapsing an enemy's economy it's the victor who usually ends up helping to rebuild the economy of the very nation they helped to destroy, and that sometimes it is at the expense of the victor country's own taxpayer dollars.

However, even when diplomacy remains the chosen path to help end a war, the diplomats involved must have an understanding of who the enemy really is. And herein lies a key issue regarding the war with Iran for I do not believe that President Trump and his advisors truly understand who the enemy really is, and what must be done to secure not just victory but lasting peace.

And here I think it would be so wise for both President Trump, and all said advisors, to look at how President Ronald Reagan not only combined what was a well thought out strategic approach with military strength, but then he also fine-tuned the diplomatic negotiations to the point where what was called the “Cold War”...aka the “nuclear arms race”...did see in victory the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union.

Simply, striving to make deals with the enemy when military engagement has itself not ended the war being fought only seems to work successfully when the people...when the government...you are dealing with actually does want a deal to be made...does want said war to end. And this is something, I now believe, Iran does not want to see happen.

Why so...because the theocratic dictatorship that has been Iran's reality since the “Islamic Revolution” of 1979, would rather see Iran totally being destroyed...down to every last man, woman, and child...then their having to betray their core ideology via deals being made even with fingers voluntarily being crossed behind their backs...deals they and we know will not be honored let alone be kept.

And this is why we are still having trouble...yes trouble...bringing Iran down to her increasingly bloodied knees. Remember, when one engages in the “game of war,” when one is facing what will surely be military defeat, both sides must understand that any deal being brokered is but political window dressing and posturing at best.

And when dealing with a conventional enemy, “to the victors will go the spoils of war,” yet the fact remains that both sides must accept reality over what has become lifelong indoctrinated ideologies. Both Reagan and then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev knew this to be true in regards to the “Cold War,”  the regime in Iran simply does not. And that probably is the reason why no lasting deals with Iran will ever be made, or should be, made without Iran's unconditional surrender.

Remember, Gorbachev actually wanted reform in the Soviet Union to take place...he wanted a change in communism's oppressive ideologies...especially when faced head on with Reagan’s strategy of not only “peace through strength,” but with the economic pressures being imposed on the Soviet economy courtesy of the “Cold War” added to its economic instabilities and inefficiencies. After all, building and stockpiling nuclear weapons is a very expensive endeavor most especially for a nation that is under communist rule.

The “Cold War” could well have ended in nuclear war but did not thanks to President Reagan himself being not only an effective diplomat with fine tuned oratory skills, but saw those skills...when coupled with his openness to a one-on-one dialogue...resulting in intermediaries only having to be used quite sparingly.

Simply, Reagan wisely chose to speak for himself. And it was this stance that showed the world both his and our country's strength, which in turn inspired dissidents within the Soviet bloc to rise up against what Reagan called the “Evil Empire.” And it was this very action that helped to both position the United States as the leader of the “free world” while also seeing the Soviet Union officially collapsing as the “Cold War” basically came to a definitive end with President Reagan's now immortal words, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”

I truly believe that President Trump needs a “Reagan moment” to help end the war with Iran. Trump needs that “Reagan moment” to show the Iranian people...to show the protesters and the freedom fighters, some of whom are still being executed...that he has not forgotten them or their quest for freedom nor demoted them to second place behind a war whose prime focus...at least for now...seems to be who will be in control of Iran's oil supplies and distribution.

President Trump needs a “Reagan moment” to rethink how and exactly who should be handling any and all diplomatic talks with those still hell bent on wiping both the U.S. and Israel off the face of the map. And if negotiations are to continue...negotiations which I still believe should never have taken place...remember that Gorbachev wanted to reach a solution, those who are now left running Iran do not...thus it should be Donald Trump himself...coupled only with our great Secretary of State Marco Rubio (and possibly Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu)... who should sit at the negotiation table not his old real estate buddy, his son-on-law, or our vice president who sadly has no true diplomatic experience at all.

And might I add that the “extensions “ must not only end, but no more extensions must be given. Threats do become useless unless a set-in-stone timeline is given, but more importantly is that said deadline must be followed up with promised actions taken.

Simply, if President Reagan could bring down the Soviet Union and end the “Cold War,” President Trump can...likely with Israel's help...bring down Iran. All that's needed is for tangible and sensible actions...including military actions...to replace both the bravado and the threats currently being unheeded. Case closed.

In this bloggers opinion this is an important read
Written by: Mustapha Ezzarghani / Originally posted on Facebook

For days now, I have been watching a strange narrative spreading across Western media and social networks: the claim that the confrontation with the Iranian regime is somehow “Israel’s war” and that the United States was dragged into it.

As a Moroccan Muslim and an Arab who has spent years studying the politics of our region, I can say clearly: this argument is not only false—it is intellectually dishonest.

Let us start with a simple fact. The Islamic Republic of Iran has not spent the last four decades declaring war only on Israel. Its leaders openly speak of fighting the “Great Satan” — the United States — and the “Little Satan” — Israel. For 47 years, their ideology has been built around exporting revolution, destabilizing the Middle East, and spreading militant networks across the region.

This is not an Israeli fantasy. It is Iran’s own declared doctrine.

Ukraine...Putin's Proxy War
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots / Right Side Patriots Radio

I do not know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

- Albert Einstein, no need to say more

Last week in my article An Essay On Ukraine I wrote about history's lessons now seemingly unlearned and why Ukraine is not just a harbinger back to the past but a dangerous foreboding of a possible future...a future that if not handled correctly now, will not play out well in our, Ukraine's, or the free world's favor. And while Vladimir Putin currently has garnered for himself the leading actor role in this current modern day game of war...a war with seemingly no end in sight...the United States, under the misplaced leadership of Joe Biden, is being seen by both allies and enemies alike as but a laughing stock at best. And to add to Ukraine's and now our woes, we see what was a somewhat self-contained war being expanded on a worldwide scale as a new player is set to upstage all the current key players, with said player's name being Red China, who of course is talking out of both sides of its mouth.

Red China...the very nation who via manpower alone deems itself always ready for war...recently saw its leaders flexing political muscle by first threatening to side with and help arm Putin's Russia in its war against Ukraine, and then days later saying that China is now willing to mediate and help bring this “horrifying invasion” to an end, but that they would do so only while remaining committed to their “no limits” partnership with Russia. Obviously now playing both sides of the political coin...as well as having armed both sides with non-lethal drones...China has introduced what they call a 12-Point Plan* to end the war...a plan courtesy of a country known for its flagrant violations of basic human rights. But know that China did abstain when the United Nations General Assembly voted last week on a nonbinding resolution calling for Russia to end hostilities in Ukraine and withdraw its troops from the former Soviet state.

And with China's now adding...as per its Foreign Ministry website...that “Nuclear weapons must not be used and nuclear wars must not be fought...The threat or use of nuclear weapons should be opposed,” we do know that China herself is running scared...especially as they plan to soon “reabsorb” Taiwan back into the mainland's fold, for even they know that Putin is acting irrationally what with his not taking a nuclear option in regards to Ukraine off the proverbial table.

But no matter China's incursion into the political discourse...no matter its abstaining from the UN's above stated resolution...we also saw last week the Duma (Russia's lower House of Parliament) unanimously approving Putin's “suspending” of the all-important “New START Treaty”...the very treaty they and we signed back in 2010 (extended in 2021 by five years) with this being the very treaty that placed specific limits on the the number of “strategic nuclear warheads” that both the U.S. and Russia can have.

And isn't almost everything of importance about numbers, in this case limiting to 1,500 the number of nuclear warheads both the U.S. and Russia can possess, while the NATO nations of France and the United Kingdom do have 290 and 225 such warheads respectively. But while those seem like large numbers, know that said numbers are far from the truth what with Russia currently having in its possession 5,977 nuclear warheads to our 5,428 such weapons. But when NATO's weapons are added into our total, the numbers shift to we the “good guys” having 5,943 such weapons with Russia having 5,977...still leaving our side to lag behind a bit. But when Israel's estimated 80 to 400 (if not more) such weapons are also added to our side, and China's (as per the latest Pentagon estimate) 250 to 350 nuclear warheads are added to Russia's total, that number shifts in favor of our side...as in our having 6,343 strategic nuclear warheads compared to Russia and China having 6,327 such weapons combined...thus allowing we the “good guys” to outnumber the “bad guys” by 16 nuclear warheads.

Outrageous numbers indeed...numbers equating to what would surely be nuclear annihilation. So why do I even bring these numbers up...simply to show the foolishness of the “New START Treaty” itself... foolishness as it's obviously not being adhered to by either side. And when the cumulative numbers of nuclear warheads on each side are added up...equaling 12,670 such weapons now being in play...the fact is that if even a single handful of such warheads were launched in regards to Ukraine we would see “Mother Earth” herself becoming but a distant memory in the universe's ever unfolding story.

No, Putin's withdrawing from the “New START Treaty” is not the real issue here as all it does is show the world that a 1,500 nuclear warhead limit was always laughable at best. And with nuclear armageddon now dangerously close at hand, it must be understood that Putin's invasion of Ukraine was indeed based solely upon politics and not as a means towards simple military conquest. Why so...because each side could easily wipe out the other with just the push of a single button.

Then why is Vladimir Putin masquerading this current blood and guts war with Ukraine as being a threat to Russia's security especially with NATO sitting ever so close to Russia's border? It's because Ukraine has become Putin's proxy and in his mind a justifiable reason for being at war with the United States...the very country that saw President Reagan bringing both “Mother Russia” and the Soviet Union itself to its knees.

And here let's remember that for Vladimir Putin “saving face” is as important to him and to Russia as it is to China and it's leader Xi Jinping.

And so with China now entering the fray no matter in what capacity, the war being fought in Ukraine is really a war between the East vs. the West...between democracy vs. communism...between capitalism vs. socialism...and most importantly between freedom and conquest through attrition...now all being fought as we move dangerously closer to either all out nuclear war or a one world government finally trumping all.

Two possible scenarios, neither one of them good nor desirable. So unless we put our collective fear of Vladimir Putin's threats aside Ukraine will indeed become ground zero for nuclear war...the very thing Putin seems to have no fear of. In fact, Putin's actions alone reek of his itching for nuclear war...baited actions bolstered by Red China's entering the battleground discourse...for better or worse. Why else would Putin be continuing to fight a war that he appears to be militarily losing if not for having the nuclear option readily on the table. Remember, threats of armageddon in some form or another have appeared throughout mankind's history, and history does tend to repeat itself even when our eyes are wide open.

Simply, history lessons unlearned will once again become today's sad reality especially when madmen and fools continue running the show. And when self-serving political interests, more times than not, override both common sense and what passes for basic logic...a nuclear fought World War III cannot be far behind.

So how do we and NATO...how does Ukraine...stop what could be a now suicidal leaning Vladimir Putin from turning blood already spilled into an nuclear initiated World War III?

First, it must be decidedly understood that Vladimir Putin totally underestimated both Vlodymyr Zelenskyy's and the Ukrainian people's ability to not only fight back, but to hold onto territory he now covets, thus leading to tangible emotions bubbling over. So Putin really has but one single option left...if not nuclear war...and that option is to keep U.S. due-diligence focused solely on how the rest of the world regards and acts upon his overtly “imperialistic ambitions,” while at the same time he accepts as fact that any negotiated settlement reached will be both fragile at best and reliant upon third-party intervention.

And here I do not mean Red China's playing both sides with its recent incursion, but how Israel...yes Israel...reacts to the very conflict that they, up until now, have tried hard to stay out of.

Israel could well be the much needed third party to bring both sides to table. Why so...because what most forget is that Israel has a good working and personal relationship with both Ukraine and Russia. In fact, Putin considers Israel to be a “crucial regional player”...a player who happens to have considerable influence here in the U.S. And with US News & World Report now listing the Jewish State of Israel as the world’s 10th-most powerful nation...due to its military strength and in relation to its political and global economic successes...Israel might be able to accomplish the task that up until now has been impossible...as in getting both Putin and Zelenskyy to make the necessary concessions needed for ending not just ongoing hostilities but the war itself.

Remember, Putin and Russia are hurting both on the battlefield and economically at home as the bills of war do add up while sanctions placed are hurting. War is indeed an expensive game to play both in blood and treasure, meaning that war cannot go on forever. Exit options are not just about “saving face” but about the reality being that's it's better to negotiate and settle than to outright lose in war. This is truly the place Putin now finds himself in even though he will not admit it, while Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his forces have most of the world on their side. Simply, better to negotiate the best possible “out” then to blow us all up...something I think that even Vladimir Putin would dare not do.

So what can Israel offer as a peacemaker that others could not? The answer is really quite simple in that by Israel's having avoided taking public positions as to where they stand in regards to this war, Israel has been able to work behind the scenes with all parties involved for while it silently bolsters Ukraine, Israel has not alienated Putin nor Russia. In other words, in Israel's looking out for Israel they have also succeeded in maintaining good relations with the U.S. and Ukraine while at the same time working to strengthen Putin's acceptance of Israel’s freedom to operate militarily against Iranian forces out for their destruction, including those forces currently active in Syria.

In other words, no other country but Israel has alienated any side in this war, and that alone makes Israel an ideal candidate in trying to bring a negotiated end to said war. Diplomacy can still work in regards to Ukraine, but China is not the country to do so as their ties to Russia run too deep. And besides with Israel having the world's only workable EMP device they actually can bring this war to an end if it and Putin truly gets out of hand. Just saying...case closed.
