Monday is Memorial Day and while many will go to the beach or enjoy a
hearty barbecue, let’s not forget the real reason for this most special
and solemn of days…a day to remember and honor those who put their lives on
the line for our beloved country…a day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice
for a purpose they believed was greater than themselves…a purpose of
keeping "We the People" safe and free at home.
And while political battles continue in D.C. and across the nation,
Memorial Day offers us the chance for all Americans…no matter our race,
creed, color, religion, party affiliation, or whether this president is our president of
choice…to unite together and remember the one thing we
all we have in common...gratitude...gratitude for those who
served…gratitude for the
brave men and women who proudly wore but sadly died wearing our nation’s
uniform…gratitude
so that we can go to that beach and can enjoy that barbecue.
On Memorial Day there should be no hyphenated Americans (nor should there ever
be)…just Americans bowing their heads together in prayer as the flag of
these United States is raised throughout this great nation, and then
as it's solemnly lowered to half-staff. On this day let us remember the more
than one million American patriots who gave their lives in service to this
country. And when the flag is once again raised high at noon we must
also remember to not allow their sacrifice to be in vain for a nation that
forgets its true heroes is a nation that loses its soul.
Memorial Day is a day when we should teach our children the importance of
the sacrifices made by so many to ensure their freedoms and the freedoms
of generations to come.
Memorial Day is a day when many Americans will visit cemeteries or memorials
nationwide to place small flags at the base of the headstones of the
fallen to let them know they are not forgotten nor will they ever be.
Memorial Day is a day to honor the remains buried at the Tomb of the "Unknown
Soldier" for while he, brave soldier whomever he may be, is home resting
on American soil he is not with his loved ones, but serves as a
reminder of the many who never made it home, and should remind us that
there are still some left behind who must be brought home.
Memorial Day is a day when the "Pledge of Allegiance" should take on a renewed
meaning, and should reawaken in us all the realization that we do live in the
greatest nation the world has ever known, and remind us that some things are
indeed worth both fighting and dying for.
Memorial Day is a day to honor courage for while those lost in battle knew
fear, they sacrificed with courage of heart and strength of conviction,
something that must never be forgotten for without knowing fear there
can be no courage and without courage there can be no victory. Those who
gave all deemed their love of country and duty to freedom were of
greater value and more important then the fears they faced in dying.
Memorial Day is a day to also honor the very freedoms those lost in battle
gave to each and every one of us…the freedom we have in our beloved
America to act, speak, and think as we so choose without hindrance or
restraint…a freedom we intend never to lose…a freedom we will fight for
with just as much passion, dedication, determination, and courage as
those who sacrificed before us…for we will not allow their sacrifice to
be forgotten nor will we allow our freedoms to be taken away.
No…we will never allow their sacrifice to have been in vain.
Memorial Day is a day for prayers for those lost…a day for honoring their
memories not just with tearful remembrances but also with a smile…a day
to rediscover the meaning of what our military fights and dies for…our
liberty, our safety, our individual rights guaranteed us under our
Constitution, and the continuing American story of which we all play a part in.
So on this Memorial Day I will bow my head in solemn prayer and thank and remember those who
made that ultimate sacrifice to keep our nation free…and pray to God
that someday…"nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither
shall they learn war any more." (Isaiah 2:4)
Someday…someday soon I pray. And may God our Father Bless America today, tomorrow, and always. Copyright @ 2025 Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / All Rights Reserved.

An Essay On Ukraine
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot
Factor / Right Side Patriots / Right Side Patriots
History is a cruel mistress in that lessons learned are not always
remembered nor acted upon in a wise or timely manner. And here I
speak of the lessons of war...lessons regarding the foreboding of
possible war to come as well as of lessons reminding some that things
that needed to be done were simply not done.
And war is more times than not the breeding ground of small-minded
men with Napoleon complexes who see today's world as but a mere
chapter in the ongoing saga of what many believe to be just a
geopolitical rivalry between the world's three major super powers.
Afraid to the face the truth about issues way more complex than just
three nations jockeying for the number one superpower position, those
here in the U.S., those in Putin's Russia, as well as those in Red
China, know that both circumstances and ambition, peppered with
self-perceived righteousness driven in part by media dictates can,
when melded together as one, be the determining factor in who becomes
the victor and and who the loser with what was believed to be a just
cause being relegated to the annals of war's history alone.
Such is the case, I believe, in regards to the current happenings
in Ukraine for the fact is that Ukraine and Russia have a long,
bloody, and ever so complicated history with each other no matter
words to the contrary. In fact, in June 1945, Ukraine...then known as
the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic...was among the first
countries to sign the United Nations Charter, thus being one of its
51 founding members. Also remember that the then USSR actually
endorsed Ukraine’s UN entry as it being a separate
country...basically admitting Ukraine's autonomy...albeit a separate
country that they counted on to always vote and side with them.
And while numerous conflicts did exist between the two countries in the
years since then, today's highly volatile and dangerous situation
started with Russia's February 2022 invasion of a country whose
leaders were looking towards the future...as in Ukraine truly becoming part
of Europe...instead of continuing to allow their country and her
people to live in the past...a past that would see Ukraine officially
returning to “Mother Russia's” fold. And with Vladimir
Putin's overinflated ego coupled with his personally driven quest for
history making immortality being the hoped for components that would
propel Russia to victory, Putin deliberately escalated the still
smoldering eight-year long conflict that began with Russia's
2014 annexation of Crimea, the very action seen by many world
leaders as the historic turning point for European security.
And so with his victory in Crimea, Putin gambled on both “Mother Russia's” and himself being invincible and unstoppable, with Russia
being victorious in war and with his being hailed as the motherland's
hero. Thankfully though, history seems to have other things in mind
for Vladimir Putin as he is now being seen by many...military folks
included...as not just the purveyor of major strategic blunders in
regards to his underestimating his enemy's strength and
determination, but also as the destroyer of what was once great “Mother
Russia” herself.
Strength, focus, determination, and
history...catalysts all peppered with a healthy dose of reality finds
Ukraine, the second-most-populous and powerful of the fifteen former
Soviet republics, aka “satellites,” now standing its ground
against one of the world's greatest armies and its ego-maniacal
dictator who relishes in his having one hand on the nuclear button at
all times. And as Ukraine continues to forge its own destiny as a sovereign and independent nation...a nation truly free to align
itself with nations in the West...Ukraine's President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy continues his personal quest to find a way to balance his
country's hope for the future while at the same time resolving what
remains deep seated internal divisions within his own country and
government...divisions not unlike those seen during the time of our
own Civil War...a war that saw brother pick up arms against their own
blood brother just as Russia now picks up arms against their
genetically tied Ukrainian blood brothers.
Think of the Ukrainian-speaking
population in the western part of Ukraine (those who support becoming
part of the EU and NATO) as being akin to the north's Union
soldiers...while Russian-speaking folks in Ukraine's east (those
wanting closer ties with Putin's Russia) as being Confederate
soldiers. Now compare and contrast the framework for each war...minus
the issue of slavery which itself was more about economics than the
actual breaking of black folks chains...and one can see how eerily
similar they are as both wars started with so-called “breakaway
territories” declaring their independence from the
homeland...the Confederate states declaring independence from the
U.S., the Russian-backed states of Donetsk and Luhansk doing so from
Ukraine.
And also know that both wars targeted
the trade and transportation networks of the opposing side. In our
Civil War access was restricted to Confederate ports with European
nations feigning the face of neutrality while openly supplying arms
and munitions to both sides. In regards to Ukraine, last year not
only did NATO nations close their airspace to Russia, but
international sanctions actually helped to restrict Russian trade
while we and others who supported Ukraine continued and still
continue to send them military aid with neutrality, ever so wisely,
thankfully not even in the picture.
Neutrality, in my opinion, is but the
front of cowards for to be successful in war means one must not fear
the taking of sides nor the collateral damage incurred. And while
both our Civil War and the still ongoing Russia v. Ukraine War...a
war that in reality is simply a war of self-determination...sees as
their basic commonality a striving for national reunification coupled
with both political and economic conquest. But know that more times than
not it's tangible success in battle alone that determines who history
portrays as heroes and who are portrayed as villains, as well as who
will be determined to be the ultimate winners and losers in this
modern day version of civil war.
And for Ukraine's and the world's free
nations it best be Ukraine for if Ukraine falls to Russia...if she
falls to Vladimir Putin...the face of Europe herself will change for
Putin will not stop at Ukraine nor will he take his hand off the
nuclear button for madmen and egomaniacs are not constrained by the
ties of common sense or logic. And it's for this reason alone that we
must continue our military and monetary support of Ukraine no
matter what the naysayers in both parties here at home say for
without our support Ukraine will in the end fall setting off what
will truly be World War III.
Why so...because modern history has
shown that when U.S. support for any just war is lacking or minimal
at best, as it currently is with Ukraine, or when the U.S. enters
a said war fairly late in the game...as we did in World War II...said
war tends to last longer with more casualties and collateral damage
accrued than if the might of the U.S. military had entered said war
sooner rather than later. In today's truly global world, for better or
worse, a world now rife with the stain of cowardly
non-interventionist policies, the aggressor...in this case Vladimir
Putin and Russia...is given the time, space, and media coverage
needed to help stage the battlefields of war to play out in their
favor. We see it now happening on a daily basis with every step
forward Zelenskyy and his forces make being met by a new and more
deadly barrage of Putin's savagery with the tally in civilian
casualties showing no signs of waning
History, as stated earlier, has once again
become a cruel mistress as we and our allies basically sit by and
watch those in Ukraine bravely continuing their fight against
seemingly insurmountable odds, with help from the U.S. and NATO being
fleeting at best. Ukrainians are fighting for their freedom...after
all freedom is and always will be worth fighting for...while we tally up the
dollars and cents spent knowing well that Joe Biden's promises made to
Ukraine might never come to fruition. Our problems here at home
cannot compare to what the Ukrainian people are facing, and know as
truth that if Ukraine does fall what's to stop Putin from overtaking
Europe and then setting his sights on the U.S. I guess we'll just
have to wait and see how it all plays out, but know that when madmen
and fools are in control...when history's lessons learned are ignored...there truly is no safe place to call home.
Case closed.

On Memorial Day...and Always By: Diane Sori /The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots / Right Side Patriots Radio
Monday is Memorial Day* and while many will go to the beach or enjoy a
hearty barbecue, let’s not forget the real reason for this most special
and solemn of days…a day to remember and honor those who put their lives on
the line for our beloved country…a day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice
for a purpose they believed was greater than themselves…a purpose of
keeping ”We the People” safe and free at home.
And while political battles continue in D.C. and across the nation,
Memorial Day offers us the chance for all Americans…no matter our race,
creed, color, religion, party affiliation, or whether this president is our president of
choice…to unite together and remember the one thing we
all we have in common...gratitude... gratitude for those who

“We're not attacking Russia; we're
helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.”
- Joe Biden's words regarding our
newest aid package to Ukraine
Let me start by saying that a key
reason Ukraine now finds itself at war with Russia is because
Vladimir Putin was able, back in 2014, to manipulate America's
cowardly apologist Barack HUSSEIN Obama and his VP sidekick Joe Biden
into looking away as he brought both Crimea and Ukraine's Donbas
region back into Russia's fold. And Putin did so while NATO and the
U.N. looked away as well leaving Putin to basically run unchecked
with Ukraine getting a brief respite while Donald Trump...a strong
commander-in-chief...was president.
Now back and emboldened like never
before, Vladimir Putin continues to make a mockery of both Biden and
NATO what with his dictating how this war will and will not be
played, and by his continuing to hang the shadow of possible nuclear
war over all our heads. And as atrocity after atrocity is inflicted
upon innocent Ukrainian civilians, Putin sits back and relishes in
channeling his inner Hitler, for what he is doing in Ukraine is using
Hitler's extermination tactics albeit on a much smaller scale. One
just needs to see what remains of the once thriving port city of
Mariupol and her people to understand that.
So now as the U.S. and the NATO nations
talk of increasing military aid to Ukraine...as in sending additional
aide on top of the aide already promised that has yet to arrive...we
find Putin and his cronies warning said nations that their doing so
only helps to “fuel the conflict.” And
don't think that Nancy Pelosi and crew's recent photo-op visit to
Ukraine hasn't gone unnoticed by Putin as well. Remember,
Putin still calls his illegal incursion into the sovereign nation of
Ukraine a “special military operation” and not a “war”...
while at the same time he continues to issue warnings...read
“threats” here...that said aid or even musings of
increasing aid raises the risk ofseeing
a “direct confrontation” between Russia and the
NATO powers.
But here Putin's actually addressing the U.S. no matter
that Biden continues to state that American forces will not
physically join the fight in Ukraine.
But like a good military tactician that
Putin is...or at least he thinks he is never mind that he, his
strategists, and his generals all grossly underestimated the will of
the Ukrainian people to fight back...Putin knows well that any actual
confrontation between Russia and the U.S...a confrontation where
Russia hoped to come out on top...would best happen before 2024 at
the latest while a weak Joe Biden is still under Obama's America-hating control.
And while Putin is a smart
man...we are not dealing with a mind like Joe Biden's here...he is also
a laser focused man whose unwavering goal has now obviously become
clear, as in to bring all the satellite nations lost at the end of
the Cold War back under Russia's control. And Putin gave that away not just
with his incursion into Ukraine per se, but also with his now
likely involving Moldova, a small impoverish nation who now lacks the
strength, militarily or otherwise, to fight back. Like lambs to the
slaughter Moldova will sadly go if Putin so wishes it, leaving one to
wonder which former satellite but currently free nation will be next.
It's a roll of the dice it now seems,
what with a cunningly calculating madman possibly being the very one
who determines not only Ukraine's future, but Europe's and the
world's future as well. Remember, Vladimir Putin has the one thing
that even Hitler failed to have...a world so terrified of both
nuclear and/or chemical war that even in the scope of the dangers
presented he knows that we in the West still are refusing to tangibly
fight back.
It's better, many think, to let Ukraine
fall...better to let the breakaway satellites get reabsorbed back
into “Mother Russia's” fold...as it's better to let that happen than to risk nuclear war
by standing up to a man who clearly is not in his right mind...a man
who gambled on his successfully committing atrocities we still are bearing witness to, while knowing full well that we will do nothing to stop
innocent Ukrainian blood from being shed.
“The
Western world has lost its civil courage, both as a whole and
separately, in each country, each government, each political party,
and, of course, in the United Nations...”
- exiled anti-communist Russian
novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, 1978
Simply and quite shamefully, Vladimir
Putin has basically rendered the West, and especially our beloved
America, militarily impotent in a game of “Russian
roulette”...quite apropos is it not...a game where only he
knows in which chamber the nuclear bullet lies. Now becoming the
world's most dangerous man, Putin truly fits the definition of one
gone mad...mad with power that is. And when one is so driven by the
need for power coupled with the want of having ultimate and lasting
control, can madness itself...can actual insanity...be far behind.
Surely, I think not.
So the question now becomes is Vladimir
Putin simply trying to show the world that there's a new world order
of which he's the new boss, or has he actually become gripped in the
throws of power hungry, revenge seeking, insanity?
The answer to that is really an amalgam
of both for only one not in their right mind would see the mere
presence of a freedom seeking country like Ukraine as encroaching on
Russia's dictatorial borders, especially when Ukraine made no threats
against them. Only one on the border of insanity would believe that
Ukraine was a “fundamental threat” to
the Russian Federation that echoed Nazi Germany's 1940's
threat to the then-Soviet Union. And only one now in the grips of
insanity would believe, as does Putin, that the Communist Red Army
was the savior of WWII, and that the Russian military of today would
save Ukraine from what he believes to be a Nazi regime. And all
stated is Vladimir Putin's current line of thinking, while Russian
troops willingly commit atrocities on par with Hitler's at the same
time Putin's propaganda machine spews rhetoric contrary to what is
visually seen.
And so the man whom both the Russian
forces and the Russian propaganda machine now call their “supreme
high commander”...a reference of honor in twisted minds to the
infamous Joseph Stalin...but is it really a reference to hide the
fact that something is not mentally right with Vladimir Putin? Does
Vladimir Putin now believe himself to be a supreme god of war of
sorts...a despotic mindset to the nth degree...as his actions in this
war sure seem that way. How so? Only one on the edge of insanity
would decide to launch a “catastrophic new European war,”
knowingly and willingly commit
what is paramount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, and
then use the threat of nuclear war to be the self-deciding factor as
to his winning said war. This alone leaves one to wonder if Vladimir
Putin has become so paranoid of failure that he's lost all sense of
reality.
Is failure what Vladimir Putin fears
most...is fear of failure what drives him to do things no sane
individual would do? I truly believe so, because if Putin fails in
Ukraine he also fails at home in Russia, and on the world stage as
well. Losing to the likes of Ukraine's ever courageous Volodymyr Zelensky
is simply not an option for Putin. And while Zelensky has rallied his
“troops” by giving them a cause worth fighting and
possibly dying for...with freedom and self-determination being said
cause...Putin instead sees the Russian people protesting and turning against
him as his self-promoted, propaganda driven lies finally are being
exposed. To the victor goes the spoils of war, and Putin knows well
that if he loses on the Ukrainian battlefield his iron fist now
hovering over Russia might just turn out to be what leads to his ultimate downfall.
And then there's the fact that Vladimir
Putin's physical appearance seems to be changing as well, and that he
appears to be but a shell of his former self. Even President Trump
has alluded to the fact that the Putin he knew and dealt with when
president is not the same Putin he is today. “Bloatedandweakened”some foreign newspapers are claiming, and that maybe he's
suffering from a physical ailment...possibly even some form of cancer
coupled with Parkinson's disease...either of which in running its
natural course could also be affecting his mind.
Or is it simply the fact that in his
miscalculating both President Zelensky's leadership and those in
Ukraine continuing to fight back, that Vladimir Putin now has less
inner confidence in his ability to win what is a war of his own
doing. And could Putin's seemingly aggressive behavior coupled with
the overtly threatening demeanor he's now showing towards both his
adversaries and his own people alike, be but a front to mask a true
coward of a man who knows that history will show that his hands will
now and forever be stained with the blood of all the innocent
Ukrainian civilians both he and his generals killed.
So while the world at large continues
to watch the horrors in Ukraine continuing to unfold on an almost
daily basis, know that even a cowardly, child killing, little man as
vile, manipulating, and self-centered as Vladimir Putin is...whether
his countenance be courtesy of ambition, illness, or a self-perceived
need to seek revenge for the Soviet Union's downfall...that said very
man still must deal with world opinion which is now decidedly and
ever so rightfully against him.
And with his hoped for 3-day war now
entering it's third month, know that Vladimir Putin's reign of terror
will eventually come to an end whether it be in war or by his own or
another's hand. And while the time of this war's end still remains
unknown as does the final number of the dead on both sides of a war
that neither the Ukrainians nor the Russian people wanted, the annals
of history do show that more times than not he who thinks themselves
invincible, simply and thankfully is not. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol
Pot, and others of their ilk met their destined fate in Hell as
someday Vladimir Putin will too.
